Multicolored distressed antique Persian Malayer gallery rug with geometric Herati motifs, rug EMB-8513-178293, country of origin / type: Iran / Malayer, circa 1910.



This lovely antique Persian distressed Malayer gallery rug originates from the northwest region of Iran around the turn of the 20th century. It bears a beautiful, classic color palette, in dark blue background and lighter blue border along with jewel colors. Repeating patterns of Herati and tribal motifs with tribal borders span the entire length of the rug while a variety of decorative elements fill the surrounding field. A multi-tiered border encircles the rug, woven with numerous motifs traveling in an attractive repeating pattern. Accent colors include soft red, coral, blues, salmon, cream, and tans.
