Antique Persian Sultanabad Rug in Herati Design. This magnificent antique Sultanabad rug displays a highly decorative, four-point central medallion composed of various flowers, Herati and palmettes. The surrounding central field is laden with blossoming branches presented in a diagonal, cross-hatching pattern. Four swept cornices with tulips and various flora rest in each corner of the field. A running pattern of Sub-geometric flowers and arrow motifs form the three-band inner and outer guards. Traditional acanthus leaves and palmettes of various colors and designs run in an alternating pattern throughout the complementary central border. This beautiful carpet serves as a testament to Persian craftsmanship and design during the late 19th century.



This rug in in very good condition for its age. Pile is medium to low and fairly even. It has a great balance of colors.
