Distinct colors that are similar yet starkly rendered flow alongside each other in this gorgeous antique rug (circa 1910). A bright blue sets the attractive background for the border, which is outlined by many thinner guard borders. Within the frames are flowing leaves and flowers, standing out starkly against the rich background, while leading the viewer to look inward. The Persian carpet's center houses a rich blue field, offset by red flowers. All of the colors culminate at the core of this field, where a beautiful arabesque blossom stands out against the surrounding figures.
