This antique Persian distressed Sultanabad rug, circa late 19th century, relies heavily on exquisite details as well as large-scale flowers and palmettes. A Fine trellis of beautifully colored large and small flowers sprawls across the taupe field, pulsating with alternating rhythms in contrasting orange, and charcoal. The palmettes, flowers and serrated leaves imbue the rug with a beautiful articulation of pattern.
