Antique Persian Lavar Kerman Large Rug with Intricate Details.

This magnificent antique Lavar Kerman carpet is a stunning achievement of Persian craftsmanship and design from around the second half of the 19th Century. The rug was expertly woven in the southeastern Persian city of Ravar/Lavar, near Kerman, and draws heavily from nature for inspiration and influence in its traditional design. At the heart of the rug lies a stylized medallion composed of cypress trees, paisleys and various flowers in the field. The surrounding body is filled to capacity with cypress motifs, paisley designs and a host of branching flora. Unusually over-sized bridging cornices at either end press into the central field. A broad multi-band border contains a multiplicity of repeating patterned designs of cypress trees, scroll work, laurel leaves, paisleys, daisies and various other floras.
