Large Vintage Moroccan Beni Ourain Rug in Browns, Mocha and Cream



Measures: 7'5'' x 13'7''.

This fabulously complex and interesting carpet features principally lozenge-based designs with a lattice flanked by checkered and diamond shapes filled in with lozenges with extended sides (The lozenge is a classical female symbol in Berber culture). The medium length pure wool pile features variations in color throughout, from dark brown to light mocha to deep cream. This rug has scattered re piling in few areas. Some of the re piling in the darker outlines have been replaced with the white color wool. Consequently some of the brown outlines have changed and the design looks more simplified. This rug maintains the original foundation and all other elements in the design as well as the constructions of the rug remains original.
