Antique Persian Serab rug with stretched tribal medallion in camel, blue, ivory and red, rug m14-0506, country of origin / type: Iran / Serab, circa 1900
This early 20th century, handwoven antique Persian Serab rug features a camel-colored field imbued with a stretched midnight blue tribal medallion and four complementary ivory cornices. A beautifully drawn Sub-geometric border surrounds the entirety of the piece. This rug is woven on a wool foundation and has a soft, pliable handle, typical of the earlier Serab rugs. The articulation of the motifs is excellent and this rug features beautiful color quality, including red, rust, sea foam green, and blue.
