This magnificent antique Lavar Kerman carpet is a stunning achievement of Persian classical craftsmanship and design from around the early 20th century. The rug was expertly woven in the southeastern Persian city of Lavar Kerman and draws heavily from nature for inspiration and influence in its traditional design. At the heart of the rug lies stylized arabesque and circular leafy designs and various flowers. A broad multi-band border contains a multiplicity of repeating patterned designs of scroll work, laurel leaves, paisleys, daisies and various other flora. Colors include light peach, vivid blue, medium blue, red, taupe, and hints of ice blue.
