This carpet was woven in Agra in the early 20th century and is the proud heir to the great tradition of Mughal court carpets produced there two centuries earlier. Seldom do Agra carpets retain the perfection of design and color of this rug. The empty camel-colored ground is surrounded by a richly intoxicating border of sub-geometric designs in robust red and ivory and gray hues.
