This gorgeous antique Persian Sultanabad rug (circa 1910s) relies heavily on exquisite details as well as large-scale flowers and palmettes. A fine trellis of beautifully colored large and small flowers sprawls across the navy blue field, pulsating with alternating rhythms in contrasting ivory and red. A crisply drawn arabesque and the ivory detail of the palmettes, flowers and serrated leaves imbue the rug with a beautiful articulation of pattern.
