This magnificent antique Persian Serapi carpet from the forth quarter of 19th century (circa 1880) bears an exquisite medallion design rendered in gorgeous, warm hues of faded red with terracotta undertone and various shades of light and dark blue.

A highly stylized, multi-layered, geometric center medallion anchors the rug and is surrounded by numerous geometric patterns and floral motifs. A complementary border of complex, entwined patterns frames the entire piece. Colors include variation of red, red-brown, blue, cream, gray, and salmon and pink.
